Exactly 24 weeks ago I did my very first race – Run Aintree 10k. I was so nervous and it was the furthest I’d ever run. I was over the moon when I finished in 60:36. Today I returned; not feeling positive as I’d miraculously achieved 5 PBs at various distances over the past 3 weeks so as a result of that, the shin splints were back with a vengeance. I feel so blessed to have completed that same course today in 54:05 – another PB. I can’t believe it. I’m a girl who was told I’ll never run again because of my hips. But I can run, and I’m getting faster and stronger. It’s amazing what can be achieved with the right people around you. Being a part of Penny Lane Striders has challenged me, but it has bettered me. I’m doing things I never thought possible. It’s amazing to be surrounded by so much positivity and love. To all of you who endure my silly chat and my complaining – thank you. For all the encouragement and smiles – thank you. #thisgirlcan #runaintree #arthritiswontholdmeback #pennylanestriders
